MUDS™ Boots: Where the Rubber Meets the Road

We have all had a pair of them; those hot, ugly, cheap black rubber boots that no one loves and everyone cannot wait to rip off as soon as chores are done.  Other brands of expensive rubber boots are uncomfortable, don’t fit very well, and just can’t hold up to the task.  That’s what Noble Outfitters™ heard over and over again at their product development meetings in 2013.

Bust out your MUDS™!

Well, prepare yourself for a rubber boot revolution!  Noble Outfitters™ is making history with their MUDS™ Stay Cool Women’s High boots.  And you can tell everyone that you heard the story here first.

Noble Outfitters™ believes in listening to riders and building products with features they need at a great value.  Pulling together riders from all disciplines throughout several meetings, the Noble Outfitters™ product development team realized they were hearing one universal truth.  The current rubber boots in the industry were just bad. The team continually got asked: “Can’t you make a rubber boot that holds up?” and “Can you make a boot that can be comfortable, cool, and fit?”  And the answer is… “Yes, we can!”

Noble Outfitters™ Product Manager, Chris Ellsworth, started the design process by asking people what they didn’t like about their rubber muck boots.  The answers were swift and adamant and almost the same from everyone—“People said that their boots were really heavy, always cracking, and made their feet sweaty.  They said that they were very stiff and really uncomfortable with a very sloppy fit,” recalls Ellsworth.  It was obvious; there is a real need in the industry for an innovative design in rubber boots. Noble Outfitters™ design team set out to make a rubber boot people would remember.

Ellsworth immediately went to work creating a rubber boot that answered each one of the riders’ concerns.  Here are the top things to look for when trying on your new favorite MUDS™ boot.

  • Defined foam at the back of the heel & across the arch
  • Half sizes for a custom fit that is comfortable, secure and manageable
  • Removable shock absorbing
  • 3 layer anti-bacterial insole increases the comfort of the boot and reduces undesirable odors
  • Anti-slip, non-marking outsole offering reliable traction in wet and muddy conditions
  • The ozone resistant, industrial grade rubber means these boots are going to last for multiple seasons
  • A 100% waterproof construction neoprene upper calf with an ultra-breathable, moisture wicking Breathright™ 3D mesh lining for a rubber boot you’ll want to wear rain or shine

Whew, that’s a lot of amazing reasons to love this boot. But, wait! There’s more from our product testers:

Noble Outfitters™ President, Kelsie Costa, and Consumer Product Tester, Diane Legge, working together at a MUDS boots Product Development Meeting in June 2013.

Raves from Consumer Product Testers

Ellsworth and the team of designers once again worked in close collaboration with riders across the country to develop a boot with the design specific for their needs. English and Western enthusiasts alike sat down together and pointed out all the features and functionality they wished for in their rubber boots.  Two disciplines that rarely see eye to eye, were working together to inspire and develop something exciting.  The first things riders said when they stepped into the sample MUDS™ boots at product development meetings, was “Oh!” and “Wow!”  It’s nothing like they have ever felt before and more comfortable than anything else they had ever used.

“They are absolutely the most comfortable boots I have ever worn.  I wore them every day at the barn,” exclaims Hunter/Jumper rider, Diane Legge, about her MUDS™ boots product testing experience.  She never expected such a high level of comfort from a mere rubber boot.  Legge was also impressed with how well the boots held up over the three month testing process.  “They still looked brand new.  I left the barn dust on them when I gave them back because I was afraid the team would not believe that I wore them every day” laughs Legge.  She cannot wait to get back into another pair!

Finally, boots that you can wear all day long and still love!

Rachel Lamb, manager at The Tack Room in Modesto, California, also enjoyed her MUDS™ boot product testing experience.  She prefers the MUDS™ boot insole to any other boot she has tried.  “I really liked how cushy the insole was and the arch support was great!” says Lamb.  The MUDS boots proved to be more versatile than she expected as well. “During wet or cold times I wore them to work or around town, with jeans covering the tops you can’t really tell what they are,” explains Lamb.  There is obviously nothing these boots can’t do!  Lamb is ready to purchase a few pairs when they are available in April.

MUDS: the Ultimate Rubber Boot

There is obviously nothing these boots can’t do!  The Noble Outfitters™ MUDS™ Stay Cool Women’s High boots are set to launch in April of 2014 and they already have a flock of fans.  “It took 12 months to develop the MUDS™ boots from concept to product ready to hit the shelves,” explains Ellsworth.  After numerous product development meetings and countless rounds of designs, these same riders, trainers, and enthusiasts who participated in our focus groups can now walk into one of the over 1000 stores nationwide and touch the reality of those ideas.  It’s an incredible experience for all those involved.
